Pre-revenue in two businesses but certain of God's hand guiding it all

I emerged from a long pattern of being failed: by bosses, by the career ladder, by being consistently underestimated.

A job was never going to satisfy. Maybe that's why none of them worked out as where I stayed. The call to become more so I could do more arrived in 2016 but it's taken ten years, a collapse of existing financial framework, and the discovery of who I am as wife and mother to occur before I knew what to do with it. I had to grow in every area of my life in order to carry the weight of building two businesses. I'm still not good enough/strong enough/smart enough to do it by myself but the dependence I have on my God and my faith is making it all possible.

The obedience isn't mine alone, it's also my husband's. We were baptized on the same day and it was like taking a second set of vows to each other in how this marriage was going to work. In the simplest terms, we both pursue Jesus with all we do and in doing that, we move toward each other and eternity side by side.

Beyond the Résumé

We started building Vouched when we saw the mass layoffs of the last couple of years. The more we understood the fallout of losing a job mid-career and the challenges of finding a new one, the more we felt a call to do something about it. We could have prayed and sent platitudes over social but that wasn't what we were called to do. As our hands began to work, the fruit became a software system that confronts the biggest challenges job seekers and small business owners face today in finding each other.

Servant's Heart

We have experienced the collapse of a financial structure that rests on one income when that income is removed. We have put our hand to traditional businesses several times but it was the non-traditional business that gave us the greatest stability and biggest personal impact on those around us. It was never one business or the other. It is both interwoven into our daily routine.

Turns Out I Never Liked Ladders

The ladder climb was never leading to the life we're sold. I found that out the hard way, from people who underestimated me, set trap doors for me, and sabotaged my success along the way. At some point I realized I didn't even like ladders. So I got down, and re-evaluated where I actually wanted my life to go.

The One-Income Era Is Over

We're not living in the era when one income covers the mortgage, the car, the bills, and raising kids. That era is gone. Workplace disruption is the reason why, it doesn't ask permission before it shows up, and everyone will eventually hit the moment their income source dries up and their life gets put in jeopardy. The only way around that is owning multiple income sources instead of depending on one you don't control. Most of us were never taught this. We have to learn it now, and so does the generation behind us.

Values First. Then I Found the Tool.

We're in the era of AI enablement now. The first time Claude revealed the depth of my thinking and let me leap forward instead of step, I knew I'd tapped into something powerful, and that moment is happening for a lot of people right now. I knew my values first. I defined how I wanted to live, and then I found AI as the tool to make it real. Having a spouse chasing the same dream, with technical depth beyond my own, handed us a master key to owning our life today and the future we're building toward. All because AI arrived at a point where we understood how to harness it instead of fear it.
